Heritage Chesapeake Hospitality

Heritage

Chesapeake Hospitality began as a family business, a philosophy that remains today. In 1957, Edgar and Jeanette Sims opened the 12-room Royal Pine Motel in College Park, Maryland. Their vision was to provide guests with outstanding service in an impeccably maintained property.

As the family grew, so did the Sims' business vision. Well-managed expansion, personal growth opportunities for associates and community involvement were established as the cornerstones of their business strategy.

The company expanded through more than 10 business cycles and gained unparalleled expertise in development, turn-arounds and repositioning, and third-party management. The Sims' sons literally grew up in the business and today remain at the helm of a senior management team that has operated successfully together for more than 25 years.

In 2004, the company pooled its assets and went public as MHI Hospitality Corporation. Due to the unprecedented economic downturn late in the first decade of the 21st century, MHI focused its attention exclusively on its managed portfolio, with extraordinary success.

In early 2010 the company changed its name to Chesapeake Hospitality and set a new strategic direction to expand its managed portfolio, especially hotels and resorts that can benefit from the company's expertise in turn-arounds and repositioning.
