A 63 Year History of Creating Hotel Asset Value
It was 1957 when Edgar Sims, Jr. opened the 12-room Royal Pine Motel in College Park, Maryland. His vision: provide guests with outstanding service in an exceptionally maintained property.
As his sons became involved in the business, it led to growth and an emboldened vision for the company. Well-managed expansion, opportunities for employees, and community involvement were the cornerstones of the business strategy. It provides the foundation for Chesapeake Hospitality today. Business cycles and astute acquisitions afforded multiple turnaround opportunities for company hotel purchases while also providing expanded third-party management prospects repositioning bank-owned distressed assets. In 2004, Chesapeake contributed all its family-owned upper-upscale assets to create a publicly-traded REIT - MHI Hospitality Corporation. Since that time, Chesapeake Hospitality, under Kim Sims' leadership, has been exclusively offering third-party hotel management but with the prudence and commitment of an owner- providing exceptional client experiences and outstanding financial performance. Our management experience has included a range of properties over our 63-year history. With owned and managed assets, the consistent niche has been our expertise taking a deep turn, upper-upscale assets then re-branding and repositioning them for short-term and long-term success - always creating increased profitability and value for ownership. Today, our company is defined by our founder's core values as much as our core competencies, where honesty, integrity, and humility are in our DNA. Our people-first approach, passion, and culture of excellence provide the foundation that allows Chesapeake to deliver best-in-class results. We welcome the opportunity to show you how an accomplished and principled partner, Chesapeake Hospitality, can help you achieve success for your hotel investment.
